ICB Colloquium – WS2026/27

Each semester, the ICB program holds a research colloquium where students can present their research proposals to faculty and fellow students. The colloquium is a chance to showcase your academic progress, receive constructive feedback from our research staff, and discuss your work in depth. Taking part will help you sharpen your critical thinking and deepen your understanding of the research process.

Dates and location
The colloquium will meet on Friday, November 13, 2026, and Friday, January 15, 2027, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM in Phil. I, Room B410.

Presenting your proposal
If you would like to present, please prepare a clear, concise PowerPoint presentation of no more than 15 minutes. It should cover the key elements of your project, including your research question, methodology, and expected contribution to the field. Graphs, charts, and other visual aids are encouraged. Each presentation will be followed by questions and feedback from the audience.

How to register

  1. Complete the registration form and submit your research proposal no later than one week before your colloquium date (November 6 or January 8). This gives us time to review your work and offer guidance.
  2. Upload your slides to ILIAS no later than three days before your colloquium date (November 10 or January 12).

When preparing your proposal, please follow the thesis guidelines and consult the suggested topic list, both available on ILIAS.

Thesis Kickoff Meeting
BA and MA students in the ICB program who are interested in writing a thesis under Prof. Luo’s supervision are warmly invited to our Thesis Kickoff Meeting on Friday, October 23, from 8:15 to 9:45 AM, also in Phil. I, Room B410.
